Childcare Options

Being new to the world of childcare, I was surprised to learn the variety of options available. Here is my summary of advantages and disadvantages of these options: traditional daycare, employer provided daycare, stay-at-home-moms' mini-daycares, SAHM nannies, nannies, couples with alternating work schedules, extended family, and stay-at-home-parent.

Pictures of Baby Nurseries

It is hard to find good baby nursery pictures on the internet for inspiration. If you have some good ones, post them! There is one site I am considering, but you have to pay to see most of the pictures: Decorating Inspiration. It is 24.95 for a 3 month subscription and you get 2 magazine subscriptions too. Seems a bit much, and don't know if it will be worth it, but may give it a try... It is really annoying to use the site without paying because this pop-up keeps appearing asking you to join and saying you can't see any more pictures.

There are some really cute ones and they don't look too hard to do; however there are pictures sent in by people who have done them, and you can tell that some are more artisticly inclined than others, so best to do this project if you have some art skills.

It is taken by mouth, and is not an injection. It is commonly the first treatment for infertility, regardless of cause...
Search For A Star Bunting

There was a little star shaped bunting in one of those on-flight shopping catalogs many years ago, and it was the cutest thing ever, but I can't find it again. This is the closest so far: www.babypolargear.com, which is okay, but not nearly as cute as the one I saw years ago. Please reply if you know where other star buntings are out there!

Baby Hammock Bed

Amby Baby has a baby bed that is more like a hammock. It seems more comfortable than a flat bed, prevents flat head, and has gentle motion that babies seem to enjoy. Seems to not be so good once babies are more mobile, around 8 months, but looks very comfortable for infant years. I am not sure about getting the baby in and out of it for night-time feedings, as this seems it could be very cumbersome and even dangerous if you are not fully awake.

Exercises For Your Stomach After Pregnancy

This Babyfit article has a good summary of exercises to do and how to do them after you deliver your baby and want to get your abdomen back into shape. First don't begin exercising too early, as this can cause more harm than good. Check with your doctor to see when you are able to begin exercising. Second, get back into things gradually. There are some exercises listed though that are recommened for within 24 hours after delivery, so it is worth checking out ahead of time.

Less Chance of Miscarriage with Earlier Positive Pregnancy Test?

According to this article an earlier implantation date (the time when the fertilized egg starts to attach itself to the uterus), equals less risk of miscarriage. With an earlier implantation date, you will start making beta-HCG sooner. Beta-HCG is the hormone that is measured to see if you are pregnant. So, if your test turned positive sooner, you may have less risk of a miscarriage.
